Running slow this morning, not much time to update.

I want to make a superhero called "the placebo effect". He has all the powers you think he has! Or would it be that *he* thinks he has? I like the former more.

Moment of Lyric:

Knocked down but we're up on our feet again
To take control when it's getting out of hand
This time we've got to get it straight

Same old ways won't make no difference
I'm out looking for a change
You like to play it safe
Well, it's a big mistake
You'd better learn it never pays

mr brokentoy, out on the pavement in front of my house

Private Brokentoy, out on the pavement in front of my house, after a terrible battle. (I assume.)

One arm with tattoo and glove, a split torso and head. I don't think Pvt. Brokentoy will make it, Sarge.

Nonsense... we can rebuild him. Oh, wait... not this administration. Too bad it's not 1973. We had a few million dollars banging around... Ah well, contact the widow.

Got the devil leeched out of me via here and here, for that Silence of the Lambs video... I forgot it was even being hosted online, until I saw a couple of hundred hits on it in a 4-hour period. I renamed it briefly, bu it'll be back after the forum-fever dies down. I don't want to have to htaccess that folder if I can help it.

Thanks to Jordon for the reminder about the coming eclipse.

Yeah, I have to wonder now if I got that lotion thing from you, I saved it and play it for everyone and whenever I'm in one of those moods. No not the mood where I dress up in women's skin, maybe that mood where you just want to hose random people down though.

suuuure. we know you like to do the tuck-dance.

I wouldn't mind getting rights to spray one person with a hose a week.

Poor action figure. Even placebo man can't help him now.

Hey, it doesn't matter what I think; it's what the action figure thinks that's important.

It's true, I've never seen placebo used in a study of dismemberment.

Seems like there might be a problem with validity there, but at least we'd have good reliability.

I'd have to see some literature on this before I agree to anything. I'm a very important person, you know.

That's true. I'll have my people write some appropriate sycophantic prose to grease the wheels of your holiness. :)

This stuff is gold. I can't wait till my little researchers have to write such things about me. I should be in PR.

This one is a little tame, but my others are on the PC, and I can't log onto yahoo from there:

It is a pleasure to write a letter of support for Dr. XXXXX in her application for an XXXXXXX award for the project entitled "[XXXX]." Her vast experience in the field of child psychiatry and psychopharmacology has made her extremely qualified to investigate the use of lithium in children with bipolar disorder. As a large body of literature emerges to support the existence of this illness, it is noteable that not a single placebo-controlled study of lithium in a pediatric population exists. I am confident that Dr. Fraziers years of work with this population, as well as her demonstrated facility with clinical trials, will make her a valuable asset to this endeavor.

Although my professional relationship with Dr. XXXX is relatively brief, I know her by reputation as a dedicated and talented researcher. She is a highly valued member of our XXXXXXXXXX department. She is a thoughtful and intelligent clinician and researcher who is extremely committed to the children who suffer from serious mood disorders, like early onset bipolar disorder. Dr. XXXX is nationally and internationally known for her work.
