I remember...

From: [identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com
There was a time when I was a young boy, and one of my most prized possessions was a 1979 world almanac... huge, thick paperback book, about this size of the Guinness Book of world records. I thought that grover Cleveland was a cool name for a president, because it was a Muppet and a City. Like... Kermit Muncie.

I was a little weird back then... I had a magnifying glass, and I burned out all of the lower-case "o"s in the book, over time. No mean feat for a book of statistics that was at least 400 pages. When my father found out, I had no good answer for him... only that I had bought the book with my own money, could still read it, and I liked the way the burned pages smelled better than they did before.

I think I'm the only one left alive who remembers that.

Now I realize I've neglected to post a memory---something I usually reserve for people that have slipped away---but there is one funny memory I have--When I decided to choose colors for people on my friends page I remember trying to match colors to my impression of people. I won't tell you what all the colors represent to me but for you I picked brown because you seemed down to earth/earthy/salt of the earth.

What is it about kids and certain books---I was obsessed with my mother's book on the Lizzie Borden murders--I never looked inside because the cover was enough to scare he bejeezus out of me and give me nightmares (dark cloudy sky with a gallows)--I used to sneak down to the study and look at the cover just to frighten myself.

My mom finally sold the book at a yard sale when I was a teen---before she did I looked inside and saw that it had pictures of the bodies all hacked up--I was a bit happy I was always too chicken to look at the book---I would've REALLY been frightened if I had!!!

Don't know if it counts, but I remember how happy sounding your birthday post was this year. How was the book on rats BTW?

Otherwise, just how good it is to read your posts everyday. Brightens my day no end. :)

Without knowing it, I just recently told you my memory. Our mallard throwing glasses of milk... But the memories compound as the days go by.

Sounds likea soap opera, eh?

As a side note I picture you as a really tall dude. I don't know why.

Well I have many memories of you since we knew each in RL, even though we haven’t met face to face in over nine years now, which is more than the time we knew each other in RL. That said the memory that first hit me about you when I read this was the time you came into work with Kat and I, and we goofed-off with the camcorder all day making puppet shows with those photo cutout things the store was selling and repeatedly doing that zooming out on someone while walking towards them at the same speed effect that we found so funny and then we saw it done in a movie a few days later, it might have been in that awful Pacific Heights thing.

"Look D'art! Brethren!"

and accidentally breaking the scale.

D'oh!

That backgound stretching thing always just cracked me up.
