7186 - Must.. answer the clarion call....

To the invisible boatmobile!
It's the dirty bubble... in all of his dirty roundness!
City of Lost Children was quite good.. though the actor's narrative talk-over track was a little weak. Not sure why anyone would want the pan and scan version.. wide screen is a thousand times better.
Thursday.. more training of backup techs. I'm not going to complain.. they'll take up slack where needed.I can only really train two at a time.. after that, and the one-hour session is lost in class time. It's one thing to explain to a room full of cops how the system works... yet another to do the "under the hood" stuff. Two potentially good ones, and three so-so's.
Mel radio silence broken. Things looking better. Rendezvous foreseen by the weekend.
Bro remains in the ether.
Hmm.. ep 16 of lost isn't in my BT lineup... I thought it was broadcast last night. Is my auto-tv software letting me down? I'll have to research later today.
Moment of Lyric:
Five o'clock in the mornin'
I'm up before the sun
When my work day is over
I'm too tired for havin' fun
Lord I am so tired
How long can this go on
Music Band Fonts... When I was in high school, I'd have used the led zep and doors fonts way too much.
How to be extra gross at the bus stop. smoke a cig, eat a stinky grease burger and have no knowledge of that thing that most folks call "a shower". the combined whiff of stale smoke, burger stink and BO was pretty overwhelming. I deal with stinkies often enough on the bus, but man... there's a limit.

it looks like geourl is coming back soon, after an incredibly long hiatus!
Fear of Physics - nifty teaching site.. maybe it'll help Danny with any troublesome kids in class?
1 year ago - client crapped out, slow awakening, urge to box, comet collisions, Planet Osiris
2 years ago - early to bed, doctor thoughts, Politi-talk
3 years ago - Pym, argument about writing, haiku, I look like jupiter, pink for vboys, blue for girls, they have a word for it
4 years ago - more crazy haiku, profession of love, seeking a new gig, tough dreams, gooter

Date: 2005-02-17 03:50 pm (UTC)You see everything these days...
Why is wide-screen better? I realllly want to know. Many people say it's better...I see the difference, but for some reason it's lost on me? I'm bummed out if I accidently pick up a wide-screen only movie.
Aside from that - the black spaces above and below the picture bug me from time to time throughout the movie. And - 95% of the time I have to use subtitles when watching movies (I have a pretty noticeable hearing problem..bet you didn't know that). Subtitles take up even more of the picture on widescreen for me.

Date: 2005-02-17 07:16 pm (UTC)I'm different.. I like subtitles on the widescreen, because a lot of times it's tossed into the black box at the bottom. I really like widescreen better than pan and scan, because I don' tliek to miss anything scenewise... or get the seasick scan around face to face conversations.
miss macdonald cracks me up. I hope she finds a boyfriend that likes to dress up as grimace.

Date: 2005-02-17 10:40 pm (UTC)Learning on my own - and help from a particular Russian male brought about extremely, *crude* Russian. I know cyrillic, but whether I'll know all the words behind the translated letters, is touch & go. He was trying to groom me for a move to Moscow. Bah. ;)
I had a nightmare about Grimace once. One of four nightmares I continue to remember. Hopefully Miss Macdonald is blinded by grimace love, not scared!
Haha...now I'm all self-conscscious about being a blabber. :D

Date: 2005-02-17 10:56 pm (UTC)I wonder how you'd do on a moscow trip? You strike me as a very hardy, if girly sort of api, too.
A scary Grimace!! You know he was a bad guy, originally, right? I hope he wasn't going to gobble you up! Miss Macdonald seems even scarier than grimace, to me!
Tell me about the other three memorable nightmares!
I'll cough up about the convertable/grand canyon / bowling with skulls one!

Date: 2005-02-18 01:43 pm (UTC)-- You mean like...in reading signs there & getting around? Not too bad. They're not hot on providing English translations like some countries do. Maybe somewhat like my trip to Italy..which was a bit more weird than other countries I've been to. More things that seemed really odd or made little sense at the time. Russia is one of my dream trips. :0)
-- Nightmares:
1.) Had this one maybe 6 months ago. Was working a 2nd job at Walgreens for some reason. Some sort of commotion outside between employees. Some ran out to see it, some didn't. I was standing at the doors, looking outside. A man came in, knocked me down and said some things, but I don't remember what. He had a knife, and none of the other employees were around. He didn't stab me, but sliced my face up all over.
He left. I wandered back to the employee break area, and employees kept talking as usual. Even talked to me, but none seemed alarmed. I brought up what happened, and they still said nothing. Woke up then.
2) In high school I dreamt the weird uncle I grew up with, was chasing me around and around a car. He caught up to me, and stabbed me in my stomach. I remember thinking "but I'm your niece...your relative", and being surprised. I woke up with a start, sat up at the same time, and realized I was clutching my stomach when I woke. The fact that I was clutching my stomach sort of weirded me out and fascinated me at the time.
3.) A year ago, I dreamt about an ex-boyfriend I stopped seeing about 15 years ago. We were in a cave, with many connecting rooms. Some of his friends, whom I didn't know, were there. He was being very sweet...and I was pregnant, with his child. At some point, I couldn't find him, & I went into labor. Wandered through the rooms looking for him, and things began to catch fire. Not a rip-roaring fire..but a slow fire along the tops of the walls & ceilings. places. Curtains on windows (go figure) on fire, lights hanging on cave walls on fire, and a fire that was flat (didn't hang down) across the top of the ceilings. I went into labor, and went looking for my ex was was watching sports (he was a baseball player, and super big into sports) but didn't think it was a crisis that I was in labor. None of his friends paid attention either. I went away, and found a comfy, upholstered chair to have the baby in. Things continued to burn around me, but I couldn't feel any of the heat. I remembered thinking "This is truly what labor feels like it, it's not important that I haven't felt it before..I know what it feels like". I noticed I couldn't feel the heat from the fire...and I woke up then - upset for a few moments.
4) The Grimace! Maybe 20 years ago, I dreamt I was at another Uncle's cabin in Cave Creek, AZ. I was up in the top bunk-bed that we slept in when we were just kids. Was in trouble for something, and I was worried because the Grimace was lurking about in the cabin. My mom (I think?) reached into Grimace's middle and pulled a bit of his body out, and shaped it into a large teardrop. She hung it on the ceiling above my bunkbed as a punishment. I tried not to let it touch me. I was pretty upset in the dream, but when I woke thought it was bizarrely stupid ;) Oh...and the teardrop was like purple play-dough, with silver sparkles in it. ;)
....Your turn!! :D

Date: 2005-02-18 03:58 pm (UTC)api is another word for bee! an apiary is a shed full of beehives. :)
I've wanted to visit Moscow too... a third of my family is Russian, and unlike Bavaria (1/2 my blood) I've never gotten to go!
Those are some awesome/spooky dreams! I'll share mine when I'm at home!
