Yesterday, Dan and I headed out first thing to hit a nearby Japanese animation convention...

But, unfortunately, Otaku-con was a bust. Every time we go to a convention, we expect organization, and get chaos. A case could be made for getting a refund, with the video rooms being down for hours and hours, and none of the panels active. We left early, and just chitty-chatted, and had some pizza. Before we left, I had a good laugh after seeing this sort of sheet set.. I was most impressed by the DDR kids, and the LAN-party room.

As stated earlier, more cute girls, more hygiene than gaming cons, (which is like saying more than a tent city south of the border) and more openly pervy stuff. Randomness - Dan Likes Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter, but has never seen Raising Arizona. I think I may have to get it for him for Christmas / his B'day.

The Boat Parade was yesterday... a high-traffic affair, though when they're lit up, the boats can be quite lovely. Mel came over after Dan headed home and we skipped the parade, instead flopped around the apartment and jibba-jabba'd. Stalker was picked up by the cops last night... I hope they leave him in jail until trial.

Today, I take call for a couple of hours from 2-4, Take Mel to see a movie, (Oceans 12, or Lemony.) visit with the mom, and then back to my place to hang out.

Clerk Beans Would-Be Robber With Can Of Ravioli

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A convenience store clerk took matters into his own hands when he was confronted by a robber Wednesday morning -- he beaned the man in the head with a can of ravioli.

This is the second robbery at the Diamond Shamrock at 17th Street and Grand.

Two nights ago, a robber threw hot coffee into a clerk's face, then stole the cash drawer. No arrests have been made in the case.

Early Wednesday morning, a different man took some items, including the ravioli, up to a different clerk, then said he wanted money and claimed to have a gun.

The clerk told the robber no and picked up the can of Chef Boyardee and pegged the man in the head.

A dayside clerk KMBC talked with said she would have done the same.

"It's funny afterwards, I mean because he got cracked in the head with a can. Still, he deserved it," clerk Stacy Smith said.

Police arrested a man a short time later. Investigators said he fit the description and had a bump on his head.

hmm... I wonder how that'd be?

Perhaps a variety. I was thinking that some might be made with seasoned mashed garbonzos (sort of like falafel filling), some with kidneys, some with chopped green beans, etc.

Beans are a pretty flexible ingredient, and can be livened up with a variety of herbs and spices.

there were much cosplayers there, including a Faye or two. I imagine you'll look far better in the yellow shorts. :)
