7012 - reminder via gamer's nook
Nov. 19th, 2004 12:08 pmIf folks aren't aware, you can go to Archive.org and stream or download tens of thousands of shows by artists. There are currently 2,774 Grateful Dead shows, stretching back to 1965, but those are coming down at some point -- at least the soundboards are -- as the Dead will be releasing the entire archive via iTunes at some point in the not-so-distant future.

Date: 2004-11-19 07:16 pm (UTC)I love the good ol' dead, when Jer' would say "fuck, I don't care what they do" when asked about tapers. And Healey or Bear or someone else would just throw a soundboard patch out to chain on to.
I knew it was a bad sign when Jono announced for SCI that there would be no more sound boards, but at least there there has never been an attempt to reel those sound boards in.

To paraphrase Paul McCartney, rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated. The Archive plans on being around for quite a while (forever in fact).
Regarding the Dead content, we always respect the wishes of bands in the Archive, and would remove the collection if asked. However, to date no such request has been made by the Dead or their management.
