The Masonic Order susidizes worthwhile research on a variety of subjects. The Scottish rite has always taken an interest in medical issues. Nothing sinister I assure you.

Anyone may ask to join. In North America you'll find its easy to join a lodge. In Europe it can be much more difficult. In several countries in Europe it is illegal to join the Masonic Order altho clandestine lodges exist even in these countries.

The Masonic Brotherhood is an organization springing from the period of the enlightenment in Europe. It is the Brotherhood which was responsible for the American Revolution and with one or two exceptions all of the leaders of the Revolution were Masons. George Washington was Grand Master of the Lodge of Virginia. Take out a dollar bill and look at the reverse side. The Pyramid with the All Seeing Eye above it is an ancient masonic symbol. The legend underneath "Novus Ordo Seclorum" (New Order for the Ages) is a Masonic Motto.

Because the Masonic order began as a subversive and revolutionary organization battling both Monarchs and the established church.

Actually.....we never changed.

Its just that in the USA the order has no tyrants to battle and has settled into a mundane life of doing good works.

But Masonic lodges exist everywhere and in places like Iran and Red China we continue to be both secret and revolutionary.

My G-Father was a Knights of Pithious and they did all manner of fund raising for medical research. I think, please dont quote me, that they were an order of Masons. He had a Masons ring, I know that.
