6914 - Saturn-day
Oct. 2nd, 2004 10:00 amShuffling into work on a Saturday, to set up some computers while there's minimal foot-traffic. We're going to to the 3-way shuffle. New box the LD, LD's box to RR, RR's box to the scrap heap. Normally, that wouldn't be so bad, but doing all of the installing and configging will be pesky. I may be helping LD and LH swap desks, and pertinent computers, too. If I multitask, I foresee a 3-4 hour job, if everything runs smoothly.
Big Kahuna may be slipping me a bonus to do so... it'd be nice if that's the case.
Sketch-a-move. Neat Idea for a toy car... it follows the path you draw on it. nifty concept. one of the more cool things I've seen lately.
Louise Klinker & Anab Jain are students studying Interaction Design at the Royal College of Art.
They've been asked by Mattel to take part in a competition to rethink toys based around model cars.
What they've come up with is genius. It's a demo mind you - the video is faked, but the implications are really spiffy yin concept.
It's October, so The website/ journal are in Halloween-mode, now. To celebrate, here are instructions how to bag and ship a brain.
Is it spelled "y'all" or "ya'll"? I thought it was the former, but I've seen it the latter a good deal recently.
VS disagreed with me about my opinion that being a Hooters girl makes you a stripper in training. I figure if you dress skimpy, and touch people to get better tips... you're halfway there. (I was drawing out the analogy pretty far.) I think she got sensitive about it, because she was a cocktail waitress and was calling strippers "whores".She also *liked* Bush's immature sneers and stances during the debate, whereas I found 'em to look more than a bit petty. The debate wasn't much of a debate, and so I didn't watch for long.
Bro's "friend" Andy is in a coma. Apparently he tried fixing his car while under the influence of something, and he ran himself over.
It's hard for me not to laugh.. and if I had to pick someone to be run over by a truck, he'd be at the top of the list. Maybe that's what he needed.. time in a hospital bed to run around inside his own mind and set things in order... perhaps when he wakes up, he'll be a new man.
I doubt it, but there's always hope.
I dreamt last night that someone wanted to steal my skin to make a line of animal-friendly leather products.

Date: 2004-10-02 02:33 pm (UTC)I've been to Hooters (I was dragged for my birthday last year), and though it may be different Stateside, over here they are as far from being strippers as you can get. Just waitresses in tight hotpants. It really upset a few of my mate Dave's friends, who thought Hooters was a topless bar!
I watched the Kerry/Bush debate live the other night, and I really felt that Kerry was trying too hard. Not being American it makes little real difference to me I guess, but with the state of the world as it is today, I think keeping Bush in office is the better choice. But thats just me.

Date: 2004-10-02 02:59 pm (UTC)I thought it was a contraction of 'you all' and so would be y'all, but I think I do type it out as ya'll, for some reason.

Date: 2004-10-02 04:05 pm (UTC)Kerry did a petty eyebrow raising & a smirk directly at the audience when Bush reiterated that he does indeed know that it was Bin Laden responsible for 9/11 - not Saddam. It was a ridiculous statement on Kerry's part to try to imply during something as important as the debate, that Bush didn't know. Made him sound like several Livejournal & Blogger people I know. Heh. He also made a few other faces, just not as many as Bush.
I find the video of the faces that Bush made on democrats.org to be as desperate, grasping and amateurish. If one of the *main* Republican sites did the same, I would feel the same way about them doing it, too.
The facial tics of either of them mean almost nil to me compared to issues, you know?
I can't believe Andy is in a coma...! Maybe some of his brain cells will be reorganized, or the bad ones lessened in his downtime. :P

Date: 2004-10-02 07:20 pm (UTC)Enough with the smirks and the sighs on either side!
I hope that Andy wakes up a changed man, too.
