I don't know why, but I got the urge to make a cartoon out of Newt talking.
(no doubt he's making fun of how pointless many of my entries are.)

I'm really looking forward to The Incredibles.

Good team. A stretchy, a brick, a speedster, invisi-forcefields, ice... looks like what little I've seen is well-written, too.

Dear M. Night Shyamalan,

It seems you can't make a good movie without Bruce Willis. Call him back for the next flick you make. I loved 6th sense, and Unbreakable.

Signs and The Village, while having good bits in the middle at times, had poo endings.

Scotto

Turn Gmail storage into a mountable file system

GmailFS provides a mountable Linux file system which uses your Gmail account as its storage medium. GmailFS is a Python application and uses the FUSE userland file system infrastructure to help provide the file system, and libgmail to communicate with Gmail.

GmailFS supports most file operations such as read, write, open, close, stat, symlink, link, unlink, truncate and rename. This means that you can use all your favorite Unix command line tools to operate on files stored on Gmail (e.g. cp, ls, mv, rm, ln, grep etc. etc.).

Cool.

Woo! I got my check from Google Adsense! Good deal, I wasn't totally ripped off, after all. A lot of little financial windfalls lately!

Mike from Satan's Laundromat photographs Critical Mass bicycle riders getting arrested Friday night and finds himself arrested and in jail overnight.
"they suddenly decided to start making arrests without warning, penning people in and arresting entire blocks' worth of people, including hapless tourists and people getting off work who just happened to be in the area watching. And they couldn't have been bothered to clean the diesel sludge off the floor of the holding pens where they made us sleep? Someone will pay."
I hope *somebody* catches hell for that.

I'm glad to see that Cap'n Pete in Disney's Three Musketeers cartoon has gone back to having a peg leg. Of course, the novel itself is public domain and available online. (you can always download and print it out if you prefer text on dead trees.)

It's also the origin of GrayPumpkin & Katt's little cow-kitty's name. D'Art! (The first Kitty I was ever really social with.)

Hmm... Hurricane Frances travel projection looks like it's headed this way, around midday Saturday. A lot can happen over the course of a week, but I'd wager it'll hit the states *somewhere*.

Ear still hurty. Brah. Grah. Roogah. I think this is the first earache I've ever had... it's certainly the first I can remember. (I've had blockages before, but no pain.)

Fla. child-protection agency chief quits

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- The chief of Florida's troubled child-protection agency resigned Monday amid an outcry over allegations he and two of his top aides took favors from contractors.

Jerry Regier, secretary of the Department of Children & Families, said the furor contributed to a perception that the agency is in disarray, and that, in turn, made it too difficult for him to do his job.

"At some point perception overtakes reality," said Regier, 59. "Here we have seen tremendous progress and yet we continue to have people talk about the beleaguered department and (that) we can't get it right."

Regier took office in September 2002 after the disappearance of 5-year-old foster child Rilya Wilson exposed widespread disarray in the department. Rilya was missing for 15 months before officials even realized it. She has yet to be found.

An audit by Gov. Jeb Bush's inspector general last month concluded that two of Regier's top aides took gifts and trips from contractors. The aides resigned.

At the time, Regier apologized for his own actions that appeared improper, including staying at the home of a contractor doing business with his agency.

The inspector general's report said the agency needs an independent auditing process for contracts, particularly computer projects. It also recommended better documenting of reimbursement for social events and meals.

The governor said Monday that the agency is in better shape today than it was when Regier was hired.

"We have seen improvement in the fundamental aspects of how the department is managed," Bush said. "I know it's been a grueling, grueling exercise."

He and Regier cited higher pay and better training for case workers, the near-elimination of a backlog of 35,000 child abuse investigations and a substantial increase in adoptions.

Regier was involved in controversy nearly from his first day in Florida, when it was discovered he had been involved with a Christian group that promotes spanking and, critics say, demeans women.

And last year he angered the governor when he agreed to serve as chairman of an Oklahoma friend's political campaign. He quickly rescinded that decision. He also faced accusations that he fired several workers to please a GOP state senator who said they were rude to his grandmother.

Regier served as the Oklahoma secretary for social services for five years. He also worked in Washington in social service posts for both President Reagan and the first President Bush, the governor's father.

Ow. Earaches are nasty. I had several when I was a kid, and they're no fun at all. In fact, I'd rather have migraine than an earache any day, if there had to be something hurting in my head. Feel better soon.

I don't know if I'd prefer a migrane to this, but I would prefer an ice-creakm headache. (at least those go away quickly.)

hey scotto, sorry about your ear..........wishing it would get better fast..........i liken ear aches to childbirth and toothaches........the three worst pains in my book!

k, a thought, if the antibiotics are not helping...........
did the doc say you had an ear infection.

why

because once i had some moderate pain in my ear and jaw, and went to the doc, he gave me drugs, couple days later, i was still bothered, and more so i think, maybe even traveling to my upper neck on that side..........
long story short, i actually had an abcess in a molar, or wisdom tooth, in the back, and that is what was causing my trouble....

so if it doesnt go away, at least the pain by tomorrow, go to the DENTIST!

i am such a worrier!

love , hugs, and soothing healing to you!

great pic of newt..........hes saying my bah, ahhahahha

I got to disagree about the Village. I don't like M. Night Shamalamadingdong's other films, but the Village is up there as my current film of the year 04. The ending twist was inspired IMO. I would never have thought of that as the film was going along.

GP is right.. you are from Bizarro world. :)

I'm glad that you enjoyed it, but the ending seemed sort bleh, next to the others.

Bizarro world? I'm not the one with a talking cat... :p

I tend to have different tastes to most folks. Though with regards to The Village, it seems American's hated it and yet over here in the UK people love it. Cultural differences perhaps?

I haven't seen Sixth Sense, but I hated his other two films with a passion.
