6705 - Need a new host
Jun. 7th, 2004 03:11 pmMy Site hosting service of over 6 years is calling it quits. I was hosted for *very* cheaply, and had solid access to the server.
I've got a month to relocate to a new host, and would *really* like to hear about any sites that can offer some basics for a reasonable price.
If you've got a site host you love, or know of a good deal, please let me know by posting in the comments here or emailing me directly at scottobear@livejournal.com
All I really need is the basics, support for MySQL, php, and root access to my directories. I don't have a huge bandwidth issue.
Thanks in advance, dear journal-readers!

Dormando owns http://rydia.net
Both come highly recommended :)
Mentioning me or lj might not help, but might not hurt either.

Their rates then were around $10 a month. I believe they are still around that.

Date: 2004-06-08 01:35 am (UTC)I'm with Warped.com (http://www.warped.com/), and they've been fantastic for as long as I've been with them (about 3 or four years now, I think.) The price is 5$ a month (USD) and their support is fantastic. They give you like 50mb of space and a bunch of other features I can't remember (you'll have to check the site for specifics, not sure about SQL because I've never used it for my site.)
Feel free to let them know I recommended them to you.

Date: 2004-06-08 03:57 am (UTC)They've got a great FTP account that serves all my basic needs. I mainly use php on my site though...and a billion images.

I've never noticed the site being down, always had great service.
For MySQL stuff, you'd probably need to get the Advanced account. Compare if it's still considered "cheap"... I havent looked for that since I haven't needed it.

- 500MB/day transfer (15GB/month)
- 500MB disk space
