Back from good ol' laundry.

The [livejournal.com profile] menstrualhut is two years old! Holy moley!

Contemplating the purchase of a 1972 Cadillac hearse. My only real concerns are gas usage, the fact that I've not driven in an age and a half, and classic "used car" issues. (is there something very wrong with it, any hidden costs, etc)

I was up until about 6am just puttering and snuggling with newt, listening to the water fall from the sky. Still raining... more gently again.

Watched The Manchurian Candidate at 4am.
Great Movie... I think that anyone who knows me is aware of my fondness for it. It is a must-see for anyone that cares about film. You just cannot go wrong with John Frankenheimer in B&W. Do yourself a favor and make it a double feature. View "The Manchurian Candidate" plus "Seconds." Really watch it, not just have it in the background.

Check out the editing of the dreams. It doesn't make a big deal out of how slick the editing is, or draw any attention to itself; it's just perfect.

Notice how the passage of time gets a little surreal when Raymond reminisces. That happy dinner is looping.

It seems a bit sedate by today's standards, but the fight scene between Frank Sinatra and Henry Silva was revolutionary at the time. Eye gouging and biting, martial arts stances. Sinatra actually broke a finger on camera and kept going. That wasn't a breakaway table that he chopped.

What was up with the Janet Leigh character? Should she be accepted at face value? Doesn't she appear at a suspiciously fortuitous time? Isn't she a bit *too* wonderful?

If the image in your mind for Angela Lansbury is "Murder, She Wrote" this film will replace it. It just doesn't get much better than Raymond's mother revealing her plans for the world.

"Why don't you pass the time with a game of Solitaire?" Hee. I can never watch anyone playing Windows Solitaire without thinking of "The Manchurian Candidate."

That hearse is TOO COOL. I could definitely see you driving around in that, with Newt chillin' in the back!

I was sort of thinking of letting Newt Drive, while I hung out in back, but your way would work even better!

I think it'd be neat to see Newt Peeking out the back window!

Test, just a test
