May. 22nd, 2002 09:08 pmdidn't have much time to scribble... only had to wait about a half hour, and I read for about 20 minutes.
boo-boo spine on left, ha-ha spine on right... can you see the difference?

I really like all the charts at the doc's office.

Although I don't often drink it, I craved coffee something fierce this morn, and acted on it. it was goooooood. hit the spot.

My blood pressure is back to normal! I'm usually 120/80, but both sides shot way way up when I was hurting... it peaked even higher, but this is how far it dropped from last visit.

I'm glad your blood pressure is down - 120/90 not good!

Re:
Date: 2002-05-23 06:52 am (UTC)is 120/90 really all that bad? I thought 120/80 was dead average.

Date: 2002-05-23 01:54 pm (UTC)I am sorry to hear that you are in the pain you are in. My brother-in-law had a similar back injury at work, late last year, and recently had an IDAT procedure that has helped a lot. It was really scary for him; he had to take 12 weeks off work to recover. [He's due to go back to work the end of this month].
As a nurse, I wouldn't worry to much with the BP 120/90 - if it was during a period of intense pain.
What I would do, as a nurse, would be to relieve the pain, hopefully decreasing the diastolic BP [the bottom number]. That is the pressure of the blood against the vessels at rest, so naturally, you'd want that to be low. If, after the pain medications were effective - the BP was still high on a consistent basis - I'd discuss with the physician about perhaps adding an antihypertensive medication.
There are a lot of other factors to be included...
As long as your diastolic BP is <80 at rest, I wouldn't be worried.
Did you mention the doctor wanting to do an echocardiogram?
Re:

I am having an echo done to check out the ticker, too.

I want to make sure you are OK.
You can take the nurse out of the hospital, but you can't take the hospital out of the nurse ;0
