N.A.L.C.'s 10th Annual "Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive"

It's not too early to plan for the National Association of Letter Carrier's 10th Annual "Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive."

This coming Saturday, May 11th, letter carriers will collect non-perishable food items along their routes. Just leave the items in a bag near your mailbox for Saturday's pickup - take it out Friday night if you have an early delivery time. Last year, they collected over 70 million pounds of food. It doesn't have to be a lot per household to make a big difference. Postcards should arrive in the mail before Saturday announcing the food drive.

Whooo! I did that last year. My mother does this thing where you say "We're out of tomato soup, can you get some?" and she goes off and buys 50 cans of tomato soup and then 50 more cans next week and keeps going until you get so sick of it you can never eat another can of tomato soup ever again and it just sits there. Or, she'll buy soup with shrimp in it, neglecting to remember that everyone in this family including herself is allergic to shrimp. So we got a lot of good food better used by people not allergic to it, and not just pumpkin mix left over from Thanksgiving. Hell, I'd buy food just to give it away.
