"We bought U.S.-made chalk ourselves," she said. "It was the best quality."

It is gratifying to see the smiles of the children in Kabul and elsewhere celebrating the overthrow of the brutal Taliban. However, I am still very worried about the future --- things do not seem even remotely settled. When you corner a dangerous animal, that's when it becomes the most dangerous. If the terrorists have nothing to lose, what's to stop them from unleashing everything they have against us?

I do feel we're off to a good start, though. :)

unpleasant as it may be to think about, i think they already had unleashed everything against us. as with the september 11th attack, i'm sure they have long term plans in place for a number of actions. my hope is that our concerted efforts will succeed in disrupting most if not all of their major plans. although they have certainly been couched in retaliatory terms and there is no denying that we have by past actions facilitated recruitment by these groups, the attacks are in my opinion directed at changing the future, not avenging the past. undoubtedly, any future attacks will be seen as resulting from what we are doing now by some, but i disagree. individuals who carry them out may have as their impetus our bombing of afghanistan for instance, but the people behind them care no more for the afghani people than they do for the people in the twin towers. sorry for going on and on...

on a completely unrelated note

Since you seem to like words...here's one for the masses, one of my favorites to be exact:
Brouhaha, which means a hodgepodge of sounds. it's an actual word too...

Trouble is - even if you leave this "terrorist animal" be, or tolerate it's existence, there's no guarantee that in time they would not unleash terror when it suits them to do so i.e. when their demands are not met or when they wish to foment trouble for those they have grievances against.

I certainly agree with the aims of the anti-terrorist coalition.
