My happy thought is still working. The power of blueberry muffins.

I wonder if I'll have time for some real food on the way there? I think so, unless the cab is late.

TITLE: Sipping Cider Through a Straw

The prettiest girl the prettiest girl
I ever saw I ever saw
Was sippin' ci- was sippin' ci-
Der through a straw der through a straw
The prettiest girl I ever saw
Was sippin' cider through a straw

I said to her, "What ya doin' that fer"
A sippin' cider through a straw"...

First cheek to cheek, then jaw to jaw
We both sipped cider through a straw...

Every now and then, that straw would slip
And we'd sip cider lip to lip...

That's how I got my mother in law
By sippin' cider through a straw

Now forty-nine kids, all call me Pa
From sippin' cider through a straw

remarkable! are you still a devout mormon? I have some questions for you, when you have the time...

i am not. i grew up in the religion but stopped going as soon as my parents gave me the choice- around 14 years old. over the past 4 years, i've played with it again...tried going to church...even got engaged to a mormon guy (BIG mistake). but alas, i don't want to feel bad for some of the choices i make (call me what you will) so i stopped going. guilt is a powerful tool. i'm not saying that members of the church are responsible for it. they aren't. this isn't a me vs. them thing. i still maintain that mormons are some of the nicest, most honest people around. i wish i could be like them, but i can't so i don't go. make sense? i still hold a very special place in my heart for the religion and i would never say anything degrading against it. i hope someday to grow up and perhaps give it another shot. but not today.

ask away, but i don't know a whole lot about the doctrine seeing as how my church attendance hasn't been exemplary...

my big questions lie within basic doctrine, I don't like to kick anyone's religion, so, no worries there. I was just wondering if the idea of amale and a female god exist in the system, (two seperate entities?) I'd heard conflicting responses, so figured I'd get another viewpoint.

Also, have you noticed an unusually large number of freemasons attending the mormon church where you went?

uh, no freemasons that i was ever aware of. maybe they sat in the back, hiding behind the hymnals.

regarding your question: yes, mormons believe that there are two seperate entities. however, you don't hear a lot about the Heavenly Mother. i've heard different theories as to why that is. i'm not sure it says anywhere why she isn't mentioned more, or why we don't worship (i.e. pray to) her. the one that sticks out is that the Father entity, or God protects her or something like that. in the religion, the men hold the priesthood, not the women. women can't be bishops, prophets, etc. i used to take offense to this, but the women in the church are practically worshipped by the men. they regard a wife and mother as the highest calling there is. the good ones honor their wives, mother, sisters, daughters, etc. the idea is that the men stand in harm's way to protect the women. i understand this to extend to the heavenly pair as well. that is about as much as i know. i guess i should have listened more intently in sunday school class.

hope that answers the question.
