"The Chaucerian Handbook" page 31 states:
Foot: 10-20 miles
Horse: 20-40 (50 if on a hurry).
Horse (post rider switching horses): 100 miles
Ship: 75-100 (uses wind, sailing 24 hours).

This is based on circa 1342-1400 travel. Note that roads are terrible in this time period.

LOL. the buses around here fall somewhere between foot and horse during rush hour, I believe.

sometimes times rarely change at all!

Say, have you heard from ckirkman? I've been wondering where he's been lately.

the poor guy's been working his butt off, but he is still out there. he took on an extra project, and his boss apparently went on vaycay at the same time. he is very, very missable, isn't he?

I've heard that the time it takes to cross NY city on the surface is actually a little longer than it took at the turn of the 20th century.

I imagine the obstacles are greater, with traffic and all!
