I just had to comment here, to explain my poll response. At my last job, the owner/CEO of the hotel had a dog. And she came to work with him every single day. She was a nice dog and didn't cause too much trouble, thank God. What I *hated* though, was that as soon as he'd walk in the door, he'd drop her off in our office area, and then leave! It was such a terrible imposition on everyone, because he'd get mad and yell at people if he felt she wasn't being properly fed, walked, etc. You just wanted to say, "Excuse me, this is NOT my dog, and I do not appreciate having her dumped on me every day." But of course you couldn't. And it was sad in a way, because sometimes he'd drop her off at 8 in the morning and not come back for her until almost midnight. Poor dog.

So that's why I said what I did. Not that I'm saying you will do that, I know you're very responsible when it comes to your "son." :)

Right... I'm assuming the caretaker of the pet is the owner of same... I'd prefer to have Newt with me, anyway!

It completely depends on whether the animal is cared for properly, not distracting and also isn't stressed out by the whole experience of being at the workplace. Sometimes it can work, sometimes it can't, but the animal can't be a distraction or imposition on the staff...ya know, just basic logical stuff.

Having an animal around can be a great source of stress relief and make the place less sterile, or it can be a huge problem. :) Depends...

I'm happy to teach you the nuts and bolts of it, but maybe you'll find it simler to use this -

http://www.livejournal.com/poll/create.bml

That's sort of an interactive poll creator. If you still want to learn the more direct way, let me know. :)
