The circle on the pyramid's side is what I dig.. eye-like enough for me!
the bug stuff isn't really gross, but it is *very* scary.... if you're easily freaked out, bugwise, best not to read more... I bet GP would dig reading it.
I agree with you, the idea of an ant howling at you before stinging is pretty barbarian-esque.
I've since discovered that the Bullet Ant doesn't so much shriek as stridulate (make a shrill creaking noise by rubbing together special bodily structures; "male insects such as crickets or grasshoppers stridulate".
but it's akin to scraping nails on a chalkboard.
to me, that's worse. makes my hackles rise.. I don't mind bugs too much, but shrill noises are pesky.
It does correspond to defensive behavior, however.
