Fantasy Island - minisode... what a great idea. trim all the fat out of classic tv shows, and distill 'em into 5 minute chunks. the one I linked to is a "Most Dangerous game" type plot - Chuck Connors guest stars as a big game hunter who wants to hunt Mr. Roarke like an animal.

Girls (TM, Amy, and BHK) are off to watch tennis and do some shopping - I'm taking a little breather and slept in, and got a chance to catch up with some work that needed to be done at headquarters here. After Tennis - they stopped off at the Macaroni Grill.

Pye and Newt are getting along and chillaxing
with me on "Bachelor day" today.

When they get back, I figure we'll put in a few more hours of gaming, movie watching or what have you. I'll update on that tomorrow.

more on the abandoned village -

Weird little place, this Balestrino.
My first guess, based on the sort of damage, is seismic activity - not
unheard of in the area.
Or maybe it's just the village sliding down the side of the mountain.

They made a short movie about it.
Abandoned in 1953 due to geological instability, the whole community was
transferred to safer ground.

Or so they say....

As for the writing.

The sign reads "Danger Zone - No trespassing" .
In green on the door "We'll be right back"
In red on the wall, "W il 19..." my guess is the date is 1953.
"W il " is a classic Italian grafiti, scrawled on
rural walls when the kids born in the year indicated reach the age of 18.
The tradition goes back to the time when at 18 you were not yet allowed
to vote, but what the hell, you were allowed to join the army.
Kids from the same year would leave in bulk, as volunteers, on the same
day, after a somewhat long celebration in their community, a celebration
which included the scrawl in question (often also found as "Viva la leva
del ").
After the '60 the thing all but disappeared except in the most backward
communities.
As for the final scrawl...
I'd say "Pier Passa Din Campulay"
Considering that Pier is short for Piero/Pietro - Peter, this might as
well be just somebody's (long!) name.
