Not native, but like you said released and/or escaped pet that are breeding in the wild, from what I heard last time I was there in April there were some Eco system concerns. Least according to the paper, which is not the most reliable of sources.

Awww, those are adorable. It makes me so sad when I go into pet stores and see a huge tank full of babies for $7.95, knowing that they'll end up in a shelter or outside at some point :(

aww..the iguanas out back aren't stinky, like that old man says.

I have heard the salmonella issue before, thoguh, too.

The iguana, however, is different from those harmful species: They don't crowd out or kill other, native animals. And none of those creatures have the sheer geographical range of the iguana.

I hope both counts of that are true.
