Netflix blessed me with the first season of The Tick. Good Background stuff to play while getting other bits and pieces in order. It seems a bit more simple and primitave than I remember, but still entertaining. The first Season is surely the best one, in my opinion.

"Pajama police" is a great wise guy name for costumed supers.

Getting together with Danny today, probably for just a gabfest and some sushi. Possibly Zoom? It's gotten pretty bad reviews. We'll probably grab another day this weekend, too... take advantage of the Labor Day weekend. Maybe some putt-putt with Tina and Co. too, if it's still on. Walkabout would be nice, too - time, weather and health permitting.

At night projections from moving cars are shone on the buildings downtown. Each car projects a video of a wild animal. The animal’s movements are programmed to correspond to the speed of the car: as the car moves, the animal runs along it speeding up and slowing down with the car, as the car stops, the animal stops also. The framerate of the movie corresponds to the speed of the wheel rotation, picked up by a sensor. If the presence of a moving object (such as another car or pedestrian) is detected with proximity sensors, its animal "avatar" appears in the projection.

I agree. Seems after the first season they tried to slick it up or something. Or maybe just used up all the best stuff right away. The animation got really sloppy toward the end too. But I guess that always happens after a while. Prolly when they switch to sweatshop inkers.

My favorite quote: "Arthur, you CAN be my sidekick! But please shut up! You're boring the hell out of me!"

I think that they ran out of steam, too. A few goodies came in later, but season one is a clear winner with the uncommon cold, the idea men, el seed and chairface chippendale.

"Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that our parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception."

I felt the same way about the Tick when they were running it on cartoon network awhile back.
That projector thing is silly but kinda neat in a pointless way. Though somehow doomed to get a beer bottle heaved at your car by some drunk.

I agree.. some drunkie's going to wreck it, no doubt.

It's remarkable to me how watered down each incarnation of the tick gets.. comic to cartoon to live action... each touch caused it to fade more than a bit.

Yeah the comic was the Tick at its purest, he was a more of a crazy loon in the comic with a touch of a dark humor vibe at times, especially the early issues as opposed to being more lovably harebrained later on.
