*grunt*... so, we lost an hour, eh?

You Are a Chocolate Chip Cookie

Traditional and conservative, most people find you comforting.
You're friendly and easy to get to know. This makes you very popular - without even trying!

Walkabout was nice, but the tree zoo didn't have many photo opportunities... a lot of it is still being rebuilt post-hurricane season, so a there are quite a few braced or naked trees. After doing the path, I stopped off at the Rec Center in the park... pretty awesome joint, too. Air Hockey, Pool Table, ping pong, and foosball. TV was tuned to fairly oddparents. At midday, the only other people there was a father and son playing ping-pong (badly - the boy was about 5, and had no sense of spacial boundaries, but it made me feel good to see a pop and his kid spending smiley quality time together.) I cooled off in the A/C for a bit, refilled my canteen with ice-cold water from the fountain, and watched tv for about 15 minutes. I suspect I'm the only person in Deerfield who wears a canteen in the city... or if there are others, mine is the only one containing water. I wonder why the homeless I see don't have canteens, or at least some sort of giveaway water bottle on a strap?

I walked from the arboretum to the Deerfield Mall, saw there were no movies of interest on the marquee, and caught the bus to the library... I renewed my library card. Broward Library now has a "key fob" scanner card like the ones used by CVS and Winn-Dixie, as well as the standard ID. I wandered over to the young adults section, and sniffed out the graphic novels, scattered amongst the manga.

I read the first top ten story, and headed back out again.. made it home. Found a $5 on the side of the road. Sun was strong yesterday.

I got about 9 miles of walking in. (about a 15 mile route, including the bus)

DSCN0065 Sad statement about most of the trees at the "tree zoo". After 2005's hurricane season, they have quite a few stumps, or trees lashed to stakes for regrowth.

I'm going to have to try out this "amazing circle" style graphic production, now that I'm using autostitch and a high-quality camera. Check out the flickr pool.

Dave's Gourmet Hot Sauce & Garden Spray is not only for spicing up food, but it's also to prevent deer and rabbits from eating your garden.

The product literature actually says, "We created this sauce to be a delicious addition to your food and a way to keep deer and rabbits from eating your roses and carrots."

And it comes in a spray bottle, which perhaps makes it the first "edible" pepper spray. Wasn't that a skit on Saturday night live?

Moment of Lyric - mp3

Just as I thought it was going alright
I find out I'm wrong, when I thought I was right
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all
I could say day, you'd say night
Tell me it's black when I know that it's white
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all

I could leave but I won't go
Though my heart might tell me so
I can't feel a thing from my head down to my toes
So why does it always seem to be
Me looking at you, you looking at me
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all

Turning me on, turning me off
Making me feel like I want too much
Living with you's just putting me through it all of the time
Running around, staying out all night
Taking it all instead of taking one bite
Living with you's just putting me through it all of the time

I could leave but I won't go
It'd be easier I know
I can't feel a thing from my head down to my toes
But why does it always seem to be
Me looking at you, you looking at me
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all

Truth is I love you
More that I wanted to
There's no point in trying to pretend
There's been no-one who
Makes me feel like you do
Say we'll be together till the end

I could leave but I won't go
It'd be easier I know
I can't feel a thing from my head down to my toes
But why does it always seem to be
Me looking at you, you looking at me
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all

Just as I thought it was going alright
I find out I'm wrong, when I thought I was right
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all
I could say day, you'd say night
Tell me it's black when I know that it's white
It's always the same, it's just a shame, that's all - that's all

Pretty cool pics. You Floridians must be pretty laid back. If one of dose guanas walked down the street up here they would either call the troopers or beat them back with brooms!

It's a wonder you had an sparklies left on your feets at all last night after that hike, let alone dance !!!

You recharge my sparkly feets! Got to cut up the dance floor!

Thanks.... Really, if thses guys were dangerous or destructive to property (like alligators, or stray dogs) they'd call in animal control.

I think Burt would like to ride on Guana-back!

When I kayak about a mile into the marshy area behind my house there are always tons of dragonflies of every color. Green ones, blue ones, black ones with snow white wings---I even bought a dragonfly identification book! I always want to take pictures but I'm mortified to take my camera on the kayak because I know I'm a klutz when it comes to stuff like that!

Nice iguana shots!

I'd bet good money that you are in fact the only man walking around Deerfield Beach with a canteen.

Thanks!

I may be the only one *walking*, but I saw some cyclists today that had a fanny-pack looking thing with a tube that led up to sip from the shoulder. I'm guessing it kept them cooler, too.
