GeotargetSomebody remind me to pick up GØDLAND when it goes to trade paperback, will ya? Maybe when I do my one year later recap, it'll be available.

Moment of Lyric (mp3 - Thanks,webjay!)

Well, the title is the bulk of it.

"Fantastic women, fantastic dancers, but they're real, unbelievably real and mondo topless!"

Tchuby Tchuba - Cha-cha cha!

Monokini is a Sao Paulo group whose music blends rock, pop, bossa nova, psychedelic, yeah yeah yeah, easy listening, Brazilian 60's rock, and a variety of other styles to create a beautiful new sound. Hear this entire CD at their official site.

Great Starting up and getting going moving in the morning music.

When I raise my trigger finger...all y'all hit the deck.

Holy Moly! The Bangles got back together in 2003 and are still together and working? That make my day a bit happier. Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey ohhhhh.

I've been calling Newt "Angel Eyes" since I saw The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly on TV afternoon.

My Barbarian - Unicorns L.A. (Quicktime MOV) - Um. I don't quite know what to make of this. Maybe Calamity said it best when she pointed out that "To think I thought videos of this genre went out with the Men Without Hats "Safety Dance". A bunch of gamer types (I honestly thought the king-guy and the changeling guy were one in the same until the groovy dance finale at the end) do quite the ditty. The other videos are equally low rent but fascinating.

Aw, Mere vanished like a soap-bubble from lj and ms. Hope she comes back. Good thoughts to her. I am, however, super glad that sedef has come out of the woodwork again!!

1 year ago - Newt and I relaxing pics, Scotto playlist, Lazytown, bro issues, how they did singin' in the rain remix

2 years ago - DVD burning, RenFairies, Prez-match, pop-up books, first touch of firefly (I still think Zoe is an overused name)

3 years ago - New moon, new year coming, Charles Dickens joke, skull sales, Job at FMM ends, Bday prezzies

4 years ago - Fiscal responsibility, Ghetto voices, online "privacy", Marine Park is a bad and disreputable online store, newt lovies

5 years ago - being mushy, schedule issues, The Invisible Men, flax seed

Howdy! aw, tiger icon for newt? Hope your morning is a happy one!

All the old paintings on the tombs
They do the sand dance don’t you know
If they move too quick (oh whey oh)
They’re falling down like a domino

All the bazaar men by the nile
They got the money on a bet
Gold crocodiles (oh whey oh)
They snap their teeth on your cigarette

Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an egyptian

The blonde waitresses take their trays
They spin around and they cross the floor
They’ve got the moves (oh whey oh)
You drop your drink then they bring you more

All the school kids so sick of books
They like the punk and the metal band
When the buzzer rings (oh whey oh)
They’re walking like an egyptian

All the kids in the marketplace say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an egyptian

Slide your feet up the street bend your back
Shift your arm then you pull it back
Life is hard you know (oh whey oh)
So strike a pose on a cadillac

If you want to find all the cops
They’re hanging out in the donut shop
They sing and dance (oh whey oh)
Spin the clubs cruise down the block

All the japanese with their yen
The party boys call the kremlin
And the chinese know (oh whey oh)
They walk the line like egyptian

All the cops in the donut shop say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an egyptian
Walk like an egyptian

Superman serves up one hunka salad! I absolutely am addicted to spaghetti and Ford westerns. Then there's that really painful one called White Commanche with William Shatner...

Supes does at that! BCkev has been quite entertaining for an age now.

Oh my.. White Comanche. Behold, Kirock! A God Who Bleeds!

Yeah Godland came out in trade just this past week. It was not something I had been reading so picked it up. Definite Kirby/Lee riff to the story but it’s not so much a full out pastiche as modern story told with some of those old school sensibilities. I liking it, not Morrison Doom Patrol liking it, but it good fun, I dig Basil Cronus I love how his skull head floats at an angle, I’m planning on scanning a pic or two and making an icon.

I'll be making a point of picking that up, then.

Hard ot beat Morrison's Doom Patrol. Basil Cronus struck a chord with me, too. :)

Have you heard of Cesaria Evora? Wonderful Sao Paulo singer. I love that sound. I saw her live in L.A. and she did the whole concert bare-foot and even stopped to smoke a cigarette or two. Good music.

Thanks for the "Bangles" song. Great morning moment of song. Takes me back a way.

I am now listening to "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and thinking of that special Sedef.

Have a great day!

From Leo Buscaglia, one of Lisa's favorites: "In the Inn of the world there is room for everyone. To turn your back on even one person, for whtever reason, is to run the risk of losing the central piece of your jigsaw puzzle."

Heh, yeah that’s says more about me being a R.E. Howard geek than anything about me having a developed vocabulary. Howard fans use the term pastiche fairly regularly. That’s because Howard's character of Conan et al, has had more pastiches written than any other authors characters. Even Burroughs’ Tarzan has been mostly done in comics and moves rather than novels.

Date: 2006-02-01 01:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com
That's true! The other big "Pastiche" victim is Mr. Howard.
