It's certainly flattering that sedef and weezie are driving about 2.5 hours to visit me on Thursday. We're going to dine out, and then they can meet Newt at the end of the night.

A/C is running cool, but the fan isn't blowing. Sort of like cooling the house by leaving the freezer open. I have to try to reach landlord today, or just replace the thing and deduct it from August's rent. Just in time for the hottest time of the year.

GrayP noted that in the Don Ho version of Shock the Monkey that it sounds like he's saying "Jacques the Monkey".

I want an artist of some worth to draw me a dapper little gibbon with a waxed mustache, red and white striped shirt, red
beret and a steenky little clove cigarette, now.

Hm. I wonder if Monsieur Mallah's first name is Jacques? He's French-like, and wears a beret.

Candice was at the party last night, but was hanging on some other guy... Fickle girl. Ah well, I'm all about being loyal and such, but there was a pang of "hey now". Mild bruising of the ego was the only downside of going out.

On the ego-boo upside, the B-Twins hung with me the whole time at the b'day party, were totally hilarious.

Lots of laughs, good food, pretty girls. Not bad at all. Heck, I'm going to get a replay of that when my lj-buds visit tomorrow!

First official allergy shot after work today. Baby-dose and a 20-minute watchover time to make sure I don't keel over or mutate into some kind of Edward Hyde.

It's such a sad old feeling
The fields are soft and green
It's memories that I'm stealing
But you're innocent when you dream
When you dream
You're innocent when you dream

I've linked to this before, but wfmu reminded me of it, and I can't find my old entry -

Abandoned amusement and theme parks left for nature to reclaim.

This site contains a stunning series of photos of an abandoned Japanese amusement park. The first few pictures of a rotted roller coaster are especially creepy as they were taken in the morning fog. page 1 - page 2 - page 3

Suzy Poling, an Oakland photographer, has a great photo series of an abandoned theme parks called Hidden Village. She also features a spread of old delapidated theatres: Palace of Mold

Defunctparks.com features many snapshots of parks in their heyday alongside the current state of rot.

IllicitOhio.com made a trek to the PTL's Heritage USA.

Pacific Ocean Park decimated through time.

[edit - Speaking of Illicit Ohio, he made a trip to Miami Florida's Marina Stadium.  I must do some walkabout down there next journey south. Maybe I'll see Kamandi vying for strawberry shortcake there.]
