Slow to awaken this morning, dear journal. Dreams of fire dancers and tiki gods filled my sleep.

Found out that the departing tenant is Meredith, the only unobtrusive one of my three neighbors. Frankie the creep asked me next door to hook up some ancient DVD player that he scored who knows where. He had a porno disk in there, apparently the only media he had. I'm no prude, but come on... A little decorum, please. I went back to my place and grabbed my Young Frankenstein DVD, if only to have a valid test medium. Long story short, either the TV's rca jacks, the player's, or his cables are bad, so no pornography to help Frankie to wanky. Honestly, I have absolutely no desire to do any visiting with him again... The guy just throws off a creepy vibe.

Saw EMAGE Ray (Last Mentioned here, I think) at the laundromat today.... He's remarried, and I guess he's spoken with Heather and Brian at least once or twice since I have. He seems to be doing well, and appears happy, healthy, and comfortable with his environment. He's a very friendly and outgoing guy, willing to gab about just about anything at all. We talked gaming, and funny to me, he's just getting into heroclix. I should give him a few of mine just so he has a fire to fan.

I was doing laundry, because Bro left on his journey this morning rather than this evening. I wonder how changed he'll be when he comes back? I look forward to writing him daily.

Hooray! I got another swell postcard from Dubai! I love getting postal mail-treats! (That reminds me, I wonder if the rerouted pantaloons made it to the final destination yet?)

Had a small amount of annoyance at work today. I’ve got a new Nick for Rhode Island. "Little Miss Busybody". Big Kahuna was away, LMB took it upon herself to try and orchestrate a lot of (what seemed to me to be) pointless changes and busywork. I have a lot of things on my plate... I don't have time or inclination to write copy and post a bunch of gross old telephones on eBay. Maybe after all the other issues get done. Upside, I got to train Newbie in how to do the advanced program, and the revised interface seems to work pretty well.

I'm still frustrated that I can't get into my big brain's skull to upgrade the sound card, but I'm not able to get the box to a screwdriver, or a screwdriver to the box. If that's my biggest worry, I'm ahead of the game though.

Stupid by Design: The next time you can't figure out how to open a door, operate a toothpaste tube, or avoid crapping in a sink, don't let anyone tell you the problem is your own stupidity. Blame the bad human factors.

Electra Woman and Dyna Girl Movies!, Don't miss the Metamorphosis Formula. I had a bit of a crush of Dyna Girl as a pipsqueak. Scary how much these old episodes remind me of current Spanish Channel comedy/drama.

The Fantastic in Art and Fiction:
Sponsored by Cornell University's Institute for Digital Collections (CIDC) this image-bank provides a visual resource for the study of the Fantastic or of the supernatural in fiction and in art. While the site emerges from a comparative literature course on the topic at Skidmore College, it is also intended to open the door to consideration of some of the constant structures and patterns of fantastic literature, and the problems they raise. In this sense, the materials presented here may find a use among students in a variety of disciplines.
Not to mention that it is just plain cool to browse through.

Including the Angels & Demons gallery:
The religious supernatural recognizes\zed a self torn between transcendent forces that fought for its possession. The Devil and his minions, the Demons, engaged in a struggle for the soul with the angels and guardian spirits. When the religious supernatural expresses the search for salvation in terms of conflict and terror it anticipates the universe of Fantastic anxiety. A particular interest in this cluster of images is the material drawn from Cornell's extensive Witchcraft collection.
Gallery of bloodletting images:
For many centuries, blood-letting was considered a tried and true remedy for certain conditions. It was recommended for fevers, inflammations, a variety of disease conditions and, ironically, for hemorrhage. Although it fell in and out of favor, it persisted into the 20th century and was even recommended by Sir William Osler in the 1923 edition his Principles and Practice of Medicine.
And don't neglect to read the leeches section.

Speaking of leeches...Wow, I'm sire to 29 other vampires. I must be getting some traffic! Some of the babies I can see are - including: LdySaphyre (6470 pints), Liliana (2388 pints), MissV (2095 pints), mixedresults (1246 pints), gilbella (1129 pints), Morgoth (303 pints), Sierina (190 pints), UnknownPersona (95 pints), DEATHBEAR (82 pints), phenrill (73 pints)

The lure of wild berries - In sweltering heat, migrants in South Florida gather the increasingly popular fruit of wild saw palmetto for its purported medicinal properties. Read more... )
