7779 - sex offender lookup sites
Sep. 30th, 2005 02:47 pmPervwatch.org
This site aims to make it easy for anyone to quickly find sex offenders in a graphical way. Many of the state registries fulfill the purpose of making the data freely accessible, however it can be difficult and time-consuming to determine just how many live near you, and how close they are. This site plots the sex offenders on a map so you can instantly see how many and where they are.
Mapsexoffenders.com is simply a map so that the data can be easily viewed. Each sex offender is highlighted on the map and you can zoom in to view the offender, address, and other information. The map also links to the state registry for additional information such as the vehicles offenders drive and their convictions. Parents concerned about their neighborhood or those who are moving can use this free service to make sure they are in a safe neighborhood.

Date: 2005-10-01 10:30 am (UTC)My Internet connection died when I tried to explain what the comment was about, so I went away. I took a nap, and then forgot all about it. Hee!
That offender is 120 seconds away from my place.
Of interest to me:
1) He lives in the *same* complex as the other child molestor that I rec'd a postcard annoucement for. Only 20 (or so) units total in that whole complex!
2) I haven't received a postcard announcement on this guy. Tells me we can't rely on the postcard notification system alone.
3) Daily, I see *numerous* children walking ALONE past his place, to get to the grade school 2 blocks away.
4.) Daily, I see numerous teens walking to/from the city bus stop, which is right in front of his place.
5.) All of those apartment units face both the street - and the complex swimming pool. So, he's got a perfect view of all the walking kids, as well as the constant kids I see in the pool. Hope the kids are not swimming alone (for obvious reasons - and because of him).
6.) people NEED that postcard announcement for several reasons -
A) How many parents don't know to check the website, or remember to after doing so once?
B) Many of the people around here don't speak English, & are very poor. How many don't own computers, much less can afford internet.
C) some are illegals (per a cop I spoke with), so how many wouldn't alert authorities, if something did happen to their child.
4.) The bonehead down the street from me allows both her son & daughter to wander the street from morning - till about 1 o'clock in the morning. The uncle already molested the daughter... and mom hasn't learned anything, so...

Date: 2005-10-01 12:34 pm (UTC)We don't charge the law enforcement agency anything... we're funded by grants and fund raisers. a no brainer to use us.
We can also do messages in other languages.
Your city allows predators to live within 2 blocks of a school?!?!
not sure of the situation with illegals here, or of a solution.
As for the bonehead allowing kids to wander.. if a molestation doesn't make her wise, I don't know what will.
also, your numbering cracks me up. ABC4. ;)

Date: 2005-10-01 03:20 pm (UTC)I dunno. I mean, I guess they do allow it...OR, the police are just clueless and don't bother to look at sex off's homes - vs. school distance...but are supposed to do so? Hmm.
Yeah..her kids have been wandering since age 4 or so. Out to the busy street next to us. I would see both of them, drive up and tell them to get home. I couldn't put them IN the car....because that could be trouble.
oops on the numbering. :D
