Grasshopper on a hot dog bun? Sounds tasty. I don't think that species is edible, though... it has some defensive chemicals...

Woah! I've never seen anything like it before! That's awsome. I'd keep it as a pet, but I don't think he'd appreciate that.

Look at those colors! I've never seen a grasshopper locust in so many hues.

Friend of Sedef's again, and I don't mean to harp on this, but look at the eyes. Do they, or do they not bear an eerie similarity to those found on the "Angels With Attitude?" Just checking. It is actually a beautiful creature, but as a Floridian, I have seen these. They are roughly the size of a regulation Schnauzer. Not that that's a bad thing.

Do grasshoppers and locuts generally eat the same foods?

We never see such beautiful grasshoppers in California. The exoskeleton is like finely crafted enamel.

when you get even closer, it is a highly polished, slightly pockmarked surface.

Hopefully your grasshoppers don't spit brown defensive goo!

That's one of the nice things about living in the sub-tropics... lots of weirdly-colored critters. The cobalt-blue crabs are some of my favorite things to see!

I believe that these hoppers eat insects and leafy greens... plenty of both nearby, especially with mosquito season!
