Mel's doing a bit better, but she's got a ways to go before she's back at functionality...I'd guess she'll be able to go back to work on Monday. She's getting pampered here again all weekend. I got to see her briefly last night... long enough to tough base and make mushy sounds to one another, anyhow.

National Flu report - Sakes.. look out, Texas!

Congrats on the baby, [livejournal.com profile] applelard! 8 lbs 12.9 oz, and was 20 inches long. He's going to get a lot bigger with his tall parents!

Speaking of which, MA's an auntie as of Wednesday night! The way she loves kidlets, I expect he;ll be a happy little guy for many years to come.

I think that RS and ElN are getting a tighter focus on the work gig... I think that they'll adapt, but a lot of stress/pressure on lately. I suspect that the honeymoon is over for them and JH. ADP is about out of there, I suspect.

Quick reference to a really good block near me.

Las Olas and Andrews. A really good block
Las Olas and Andrews. Comfy area to roam and linger.

Lots of cool stuff has taken place here. First real smooch with Mel. Hung out with my littler big sis, rode the water bus under the Andrews ave bridge, free movies, the Museum 'f Art, New River, singing fountain, and on and on. Movie theater is right there on Riverwalk, as is the Tuna Saloona. A nice place to go for walkies... unless it's really raining.

360 degree view of the plaza., and along the riverwalk

I wonder how true it is that "you are where you live".

The view from 1000000 km above my house.

Link to a Newt Pic that I adore. I love his fuzzy lil paws.

Hiƫronymus Bosch Action Figures - Bosch places visionary images in a hostile world full of mysticism, with the conviction that the human being, due to its own stupidity and sinfulness has become prey to the devil himself. He holds a mirror to the world with his cerebral irony and magical symbolism, sparing no one. He aims his mocking arrows equally well at the hypocrisy of the clergy as the extravagance of the nobility and the immorality of the people.

I've always liked the Egg-monster.

Lots of different artists... I love Escher's "Angels and Devils", too.

Now that overhead view of places you've taken photos of, really puts things in perspective...
little connections were made. :0)

I don't want the flu! :(

I put my parent's zipcode in Florida into that "You are where you live", and it said the same thing as your area. I put in my zip {78745} and we're doing a little better. Then I put in the zip where my g-parents live in the mountains {28734}, and they have pretty great air! :::jealous:::

Oh..and how are you able to find old journal entries so easily??? I'm frustrated by not being able to go back to find things in my journal. Especially the masses of private entries I have hoarded.

Please, NO FLU FOR THE BEE!!!

hee... it's funny how such a small space can have so many points of view and angles.

Thanks for the nifty link.. I'll look more in depth tonight.

Yum, Mountain air! Time to vacation at the higher elevations, methinks!

well, my public entries are fairly google-able (another nice side effect of doing my yearly rewind at the end of my entries reenforces the google links), and I maintain my memories section reasonably well (about 70% of my worthwhile private entries are locatable by topic - close enough for government work)

if nothing else, but I've also downloaded my journal a month at a time... doing an internal "windows search" for a word or phrase usually does the trick! (only thing not as seekable is comments.)

"palm doodle" or "riverwalk" or "fountain", etc.

I think the easiest thing would be to do is to download as you go, a month or three at a time. :)

Nice photo of your neighbourhood. I don't know why but I love the look of American cities in the southern states - Florida over to LA - they look so much better, asthetically pleasing, than the dumps we have here in the UK.

thanks! The most well-manicured (and to be fair, some of the worst) parks are a bit south of here, in miami.... a joy to walk and play in.

Yeah, no doubt...I have no insurance! If I kept up COBRA (keeping your insurance after your job), it's $400 (or whatever amount it was that I squawked at).

That particular area is a vacation spot...people from Florida often live there half the year. The mountain peeps get all grumpy. ;)

well, head to a bit further south florida!

I've had the pleasure of meeting about a half-dozen LJers, and it's been a hoot.

Eep... no insurance is a sticky wicket... poor Mel is in that boat, and just had to have all sorts of medical poop done. The poor girl is going to be charged through the nose, I just know it!

Well, Mountain folks get at least 6 months tourist-free... florida folks get tourists year-round! Grr grr Canada! (well, not really... canadians aren't soooo bad, save for traffic.)

Long, long ago, when the park was a barren wasteland of concrete and asphalt, about 500 feet north from the spot you and Mel shared your first kiss is where B and I shared our first. There in the Sun-Sentinel parking lot.

Ahhh, memories.

It's a nice region... riverwalk is floundering a little bit lately, but the park is always a nice little zone to roam.
