once you build up to about 20-30 seeders, it should speed up considerably.
I've found that a 43 minute HDTV show (about 300meg) will roll down the pipe in about 2-3 hours. I do most of my torrenting when I'm not at home or in front of the pc, and then do a little happy-dance when I next take a look.
