6519 - email post - more lj-spam

[scottobear]

user valentit_love9 is spamming all of the same entries that I got the indian
porn spam in previously. that user has been banned, but if I get another spam,
I'll screen all non-linked people in LJ as well as just anonymous comments.

I wonder what keywords are activating those entries?

Obviously a bum account though...

Hotmail deletes some of my mail when I hit 100% due to Spam. I don't blame them after working at an ISP for many years in the past. 100% capacity can happen with just 2-3 days of my not reading my hotmail (due to a trip or lack of time). I have to spend my time deleting spam, when I need to be doing other things. If I want more space, I have to pay hotmail. Thanks Spam idiots. :P

Maybe you know this - just *how* is it not illegal to send me spam with graphics of completely nude women - when it's not okay to have Porn mags just sitting out in the open in a store? People have kids that could see that stuff if you're just trying to read your email with kids in the room.

I think that it is illegal, but most of the pornies are offshore, or playing the numbers game.

Dang ol' spam, filling up space that a perfectly good email could be in!

user valentit_love9 is spamming multiple journals with links to some online sex site. mine is obviously not the only one, as that account has posted over 1500 comments in a little under 3 hours.

they've been banned from my site, but they're wasting lj system resources, and causing harassment in general.

While LiveJournal does have provisions in place to block anonymous comment spam such as this, it takes a certain number of comments in a certain period of time to trigger those blocks (to avoid unjustly banning actual humans); most likely, and unfortunately, the comment you received fell into that window.

The only way to guarantee that you will not receive unwanted anonymous comments is to ban anonymous commenting, as described in the FAQ located athttp://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=109.

Please note that it is not an anonymous spam, but an actual user acocunt. That particular account has racked up over 500 posts over the last 40 minutes or so, (now up to 2024 entries, and still going strong) so I hope that the safeguard that you mentioned takes place soon.
