I just got to play super-database wunderkind for work, so I think that my street cred is up another few notches again. They had two totally demolished excel files, and I was able to write a quick bit of SQL that put the thing together again, resized fields and prepped the data for import into the xml system. Hooray for MySQL! I can't recommend it enough to anyone who does any sort of database programming. Did I mention that it's FREE under the GNU General Public License (GPL)?

Oh, I'd say that's the best ever. Now, if you want tech support, and can't be bothered to read the documentation (which is very complete and easy to follow) they're happy to charge you for that, and for certification.

Doug's getting into No One Lives forever... Dan got it for me a birthday or three ago, and I still have to say it's my favorite fps/spy game in a long time.

I joined fotolog, after seeing [livejournal.com profile] nomi's online. You can upload one image of up to 2 Megs a day. I took a quick snap of Dan & Myself (as Mage knight) fighting zombies on a bridge. I'm a little disappointed that it auto resized it... but I like the effect. More like a bad TV image than a woodcut now. If anyone else adds the log, let me know, so I can see your stuff!

I don't think it's good to remotely link the images to here, look like they kill the bandwidth.

New guy delivering groceries... he was about 45 min late. Nice fellow though, and I didn't mind.. not like I was waiting to go to a concert or something.

What is this delivering of groceries you speak of? How do I get it?

publixdirect.com - They'll deliver groceries to you after shopping online. The first month you use it, delivery is free. :)

Here, I'll give you a referral code... that way, if you do use it, I think I'll get like $8 off my next order. :)

Are you sure we lowly people in Memphis can get this too? Surely you jest...man...then I would be completely lazy. Do they deliver.....beer?

Oh, they do deliver beer, wine and other spirits. (You'll have to show a photo ID for those when they're dropped off, though)

I'm not sure if there are publix stores in TN, but it can't hurt to look!

yeah...I think we're starting to get them...there was on in Nashville when I lived there. I'm sure they'll creep down....

so in reading your recent posts I've realized how stupid I am(concerning what you do apparently for a living)....can you make a separate dumbed down version?

check "publixdirect.com" and I think it has a zip-code finder.

What did you want to know about what I do?

well..don't take me too seriously...actually I'm impressed is all. :) But unfortunately I've spent an inordinate amount of time in useless books. Are you the computer wizard for a high powered company? I was just curious...

Something like that... I'm a database guru at a medium-strength, but growing company.

Sometimes the work is simple, sometimes it's hard. Sometimes challenging, sometimes tedious. Boils down to work. :)

You make me jealous...it often sounds as if you enjoy it so that is of course the key to anything. I'm still looking.

I'm temping for a big Agriculture co. right now, I actually like it...while I'm in school for the summer. Let's just say my job is not quite as technical. But enough career envy...:)

I enjoy it sometimes, the stresses can be sort of a hassle. (right now, for example).

Aww,, Happy to give Newt lots of kisses!!
