a few pics tonight... counter to the day shots from january 27.

a nice closeup of frankie fruit for [livejournal.com profile] leftyrok ;)

frankie fruit, neon

frankie peeks from behind the pit!
A hint of frankie fruit peeking behind the flaming pit... he's hiding... waiting for an unwary traveller to not see his glowing orange smile until it's too late.

flaming pit!
The neon for the flaming pit.. a steakhouse, but maybe also a gateway to doom?

street light, unlit
a view of an unlit streetlight from directly below.

the street in front of my apt.
My apartment is directly on the right... look at that light pollution! why I can't stargaze from home... at least facing south.

Brother looked good & mostly unhurt... looking forward to his new gig. :)

I hope everyone recovered from the horrible tornadoes in MD on Sunday.... yikes! I just saw the images from the storm... what a nightmare.

Nighty night, dear journal.

I'm glad! :) it only took me x-months to capping it in the night for you.

actually, yes, they can be set to blink, look just left, just right or crosseyed. (I've never seen it go wall-eyed, though)... usually, it's set to look left and right slowly...tick-tock is a good way to give the beat.

it might be hard to see from the image there, but he's looking to the road during the day... that side looks left, the other, looks right.

Goshers

I enjoy a good bit of neon. Barbecue places seem to be big on that. There was one near the neighborhood where I grew up which was called "Barbecue Heaven." It had a neon pig with flapping angel's wings. I never quite got the grim joke when I was a kid. Too bad the sign no longer exists. It would make an interesting companion piece to the "Flaming Pit." >:-l

:) BBQ Heaven sounds like an excellent counterpoint to the Pit... I wonder if there are other franchises of it elsewhere?

Nope, I'm afraid not. It was a one-of-a-kind independent operation. They got some favorable mentions in the restaurant column of the L.A. Times, which proved to be their downfall. With rash confidence, they moved the entire operation to La Cieniga Boulevard on the west side of town, and promptly went bust. Their old location in Alhambra, where they had been quite succesful, became an accountant's office. Irony. All this happened when I was very young, so it was a long time ago. So I guess the name is up for grabs.

Frankie just reminded me of the grove near where my parents live. I last had some Abrosia from there that I seem to have had a hankering for the last month or so. I keep meaning to try and make the same stuff.

The first photo looks pretty keen on the blackground of your journal. :0)
