Alex Toth has passed away yesterday morning, appropriately enough, drawing at his table.

We've lost one of the greats, but the impact of his work will continue for ages to come, in both animation and illustration. We were very fortunate to have him as long as we did.

Fairly TMI Scotto factoid - I lost my virginity with my first girlfriend while Jonny Quest, a show Toth did both story boards and character design for, was on TV. (Two Episodes back to back: The 'Q' Missile Mystery and Shadow of the Condor, if you must know, dear journal)

Sounds like Mandy's having a grand time at the con - talked to her while in the dealer's room... all sorts of nifty loot there (dealer room is probably my fave part of most cons - I suspect that most of the pirate DVD sellers have to be more honest, now with so many portable players available.
