[livejournal.com profile] invisibella had an interesting idea for the oven... something special for Newton...

What can you bake in an oven that's suitable for kitty eating? I don't think he'd eat baked fish... any ideas?

Our kitty used to eat tortilla chips and corn, but she was.. odd.

Newt'll lick salt off of chips, but abandon the chip.

Here are a couple of pages that I keep bookmarked with treat recipes that are balanced for the health of the kitty. Some involve ovens and some don't. :-)

Homemade Cat Treats (http://isle.net/~emilee/cat-treats.html)
and
Pyewacket's Cat Treats Recipe Page (http://www.geocities.com/fatpyeart/cattreats.html).

Have fun! :)

yay! Who knew?? Wonderful. Thanks much!

[identity profile] laurak.livejournal.com 2001-07-21 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
quite welcome! happy to help :)

Hows about this:

[identity profile] invisibella.livejournal.com 2001-07-21 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Cat Cookies
1 c Whole wheat flour
1/4 c Soy flour
1 ts Catnip *
1 Egg
1/3 c Milk
2 tb Wheat germ
1/3 c Powdered milk
1 tb unsulfurated molasses
2 tb Butter or vegetable oil

* Catnip Strong scent pleases cats. Add to toys, or just sprinkle for them to roll and play in, and even eat. Catnip aids digestion.

Preheat oven to 350F. Mix dry ingredients together. Add molasses, egg, oil and milk. Roll out flat onto oiled cookie sheet and cut into small, cat bite-sized pieces. Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool and store in tightly sealed container.

I have like 20 websites bookmarked that have furry folks treats...can't believe I missed the opportunity to be right on top of things tonite!

Too much television...not enough internet I guess!

I did go to the store today to get carob chips to melt for doggie treats and the guy at the market asked me if I make kitty treats because no one has packaged any. If you do a good job, there is a completely untapped market....

Now that's funny. :)

Chicken necks roasted until they're crispy. Cats just love to eat them, and the bones are good for them too (can't hurt them if they're cooked to a crisp)
