McDonald's is expected to announce today that it will open its first McCafe gourmet coffee shop in the United States on Wednesday - complete with china cups, soft leather couches and even lace curtains - adjacent to a McDonald's restaurant in downtown Chicago.

This could be good! Or... it could be evil.

Speaking as one that has worked for the advertisement department that worked on McDonald ads (my S. O. did the same job as I did once), they have had weirder experiments.

1) A McDonald's that you sit and eat at that is just like a Baker's Square.
2) McPB&J (McDonald's version of Peanut Butter & Jelly in a Happy Meal form).
3) That one time they tried to market bratwurst.
4) The Big Extra (which was a Whopper sized burger).
5) The Arch Deluxe (when they put steak seasonings in the burgers).

Yep. Chicago has been a guinea pig to McDonald's for a while now. This isn't anything new for us. :P
