those look like the kind of elves that would tie your shoe laces together and fill your sugar bowl with salt...

The very same!

Ugh. I bet those things did come to live.... I hate the look of dolls like that. I really hate the ones with eyes that flick open and closed.

the bobble-eyed ones are extra-spooky!

Yes, they are creepy

My Grandma had these. When I inherited them, I gave them to a friend that liked them.

I have other Christmas stuff of hers that I liked and kept.

One of my mom's best holiday goodies is our stockings.. both were made right around 1976, and are beautiful. (Mom won't let me keep mine until it's willed to me)

I remember those!

I believe my father still has a few of those in storage at his house in the deep hiding places of his basement...

Feeding on the odd rat or raccoon, no doubt!

Aaaahhhh!

We had one that wound up and moved! Somewhere there is an 8mm silent film of me bawling my face off because that thing was sitting in front of my stocking and I couldn't get past it to my presents.

OH THE HUMANITY!

using an animated one to guard the christmas tree is child cruelty!!

I hope you got good loot when it was all over.

We have one of those elves too... yeesh. I wonder why they were so popular. I always had an urge to push in their faces.

[identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com 2005-11-28 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe they were orignally sold with ball-peen hammers to hit 'em with!

[identity profile] pilarcruz.livejournal.com 2005-11-28 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh snap. My grams has those too, only they are all wearing shiny red outfits. The shine doesn't distract from their malevolence.

Dang, it's an old-timer infestation of plastic and felt evil!

[identity profile] weezeroni.livejournal.com 2005-11-28 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
They totally come to life at night. Related to clowns I think. UGH.

[identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
they're clown embryos that stab with small sharpthings!

[identity profile] missv.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, how horrible! We had the big stuffed Santa with the plastic face to match those elves. Every year, my mother would bring him out of storage. And every year, my sister would run out of the room screaming "No ho ho, NO HO HO!!!"

[identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
heh... NO ho ho, and a bottle of rum!

[identity profile] missv.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yarrrrrr! Avast, ye scurvy reindeer!

[identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Mommy, why does santa have a hook for a hand?
