We have a lot of turkey vultures in this area too. They like to wheel around the bluffs just north of here, riding on thermals. They are fascinating to watch. Our local zoo has a rescue bird on display and Oscar LOVES him. He would stand there in front of it's display all day if we let him. Fortunately, he's the only kid in the world who likes turkey vultures, so he's never in anybody's way.
